Consumer Alert: If
you have requested a security freeze and are still waiting
after 10 business days for a response from Equifax,
please contact us. We
understand there has been an issue with Nebraskans getting a
timely response from Equifax. Equifax was
using CSC Credit Services to place security freezes for
consumers in certain regions of the country (including
Nebraska) without notifying consumers. This has
created an excessive time lapse in the placement of the
freeze and written confirmation from Equifax. If
you are experiencing this issue, here are phone numbers to
check on your request: Equifax

Executive Director, Jaimee Napp, in their Viewpoint article
"Your voice can help reduce identity theft".
The Credit Report Protection Act of 2007 regarding
security
freeze became law on
September 1, 2007. This law gives all Nebraska consumers the
option of freezing their credit to help prevent identity
theft.

freeze FAQ
Security
freeze means
that your credit report file cannot be shared with potential
creditors without your authorization. Most businesses will
not open credit accounts without first
checking
a consumer’s credit history. If your credit files are
frozen, even someone who has your
name
and Social Security number probably would not be able to
obtain credit in your name.
Identity
Theft Action Council of Nebraska does not endorse nor
condone any identity theft pay-for-service companies.
